Discover Pentecost
Our History

It all began during Tennessee District Campmeeting July 2000 when the Lord began to deal with Calvin & Missy Grimm about starting a Home Missions church. The Lord was leading them to East Tennessee. After a trip to East Tennessee, Johnson City seemed the place. Upon the approval of the Tennessee District United Pentecostal Church, the Grimms were appointed as Home Missionaries to Johnson City, TN. After arriving December 2000, they soon began to hold prayer services in their home. The Lord then led them to 405 E. Market St. and the first official service of "Praise & Truth United Pentecostal Church" was held on February 16, 2001. God performed a number of miracles and the church began to grow.  January 1, 2003 we began renovating our new facility on Broadway St. completing it May 1, 2003. Through hard work and sacrificial giving by churches and pastors, along with the support of the Tennessee District UPC and Home Missions, we continued to enjoy growth and revival.

In 2005 we acquired approximately 3.5 acres off of Interstate 26, on the corner of 11th Avenue E. and Baxter Street. On Saturday, June 13, 2009 we had our groundbreaking ceremony on this beautiful piece of property. On Monday, June 15, 2009 we began construction. Through many miracles God helped us complete our new church and on Easter Sunday, April 4, 2010 we had our first service at 1111 Baxter St. As of August, 2015, the church name was changed to "Discover Pentecost Church".
